No âmbito das suas atividades na área Filosofia contemporânea: história e sistemas de pensamento o MLAG convidou o Prof. Gerhard Preyer, da Goethe Universität Frankfurt, que recentemente coordenou com Sofia Miguens o volume Consciousness and Subjectivity (Miguens & Preyer, Frankfurt, Ontos Verlag, 2012) para, na continuidade desse trabalho, proferir uma série de conferências sobre a filosofia alemã contemporânea nas relações desta com as tradições idealista e analítica. As conferências visarão o problema da consciência. Porque a figura de Martin Heidegger oblitera frequentemente quaisquer outros nomes da filosofia alemã contemporânea, parece-nos particularmente relevante considerar a obra de Dieter Henrich, Manfred Frank ou Ernst Tugendhat, autores que procuram, para além do heideggerianismo, encetar um diálogo entre a tradição filosófica de língua alemã e a tradição de língua inglesa. Para além das conceções de consciência, auto-consciência e subjectividade destes autores serão ainda objeto das conferências as conceções de consciência e eu de G. Fichte e J.P. Sartre.

Investigadora Responsável Mind, Language and Action Group (MLAG)
Dieter Henrich (n. 1927, Marburg). Especialista do Idealismo Alemão, o seu próprio trabalho foi influenciado pelo pensamento de Kant, Hegel e Fichte. Fez estudos de filosofia em Marburg, Frankfurt e Heidelberg; fez a sua dissertação de doutoramento com Hans-Georg Gadamer. Foi Professor visitante em Harvard e Columbia, sendo responsável por uma renovação do interesse pelo Idealismo Alemão entre os filósofos de língua inglesa.
“It is often recognized in contemporary philosophy of mind that the border between the inner and the outer should be reconceived. The inner cannot be characterized as that which is under the skin. This renews the Cartesian intuition and calls our attention to the fact that there is an epistemic proprity of consciouness of our mental states in regard to knowledge of other minds oro f the world. Building on Dieter Henrich’s and Manfred Frank’s philosophy of consciousness and subjectivity, these lectures attempt to develop the claim that the unit of consciousness is unmediated consciousness, and not consciousness as consciousness of something. Thereby we have a key which should be put to work in the studies of consciousness: the idea that sel-consciousness as pré-reflective consciousness goes along with phenomenal consciousness, self-knowledge (I-perspective) and intentional states. Pre-reflective consciousness is also the key for the analysis of the consciousness of time” (G. Preyer)
